01 Our warranty approach

We want you to feel confident about the battery you purchase from QLD Batteries.

If a battery develops a fault or doesn’t perform as expected, contact our team. We’ll discuss the issue, check the applicable warranty and explain what happens next.

Warranty coverage depends on the battery purchased, its condition, the warranty supplied with the product and the circumstances of the fault.

We handle warranty claims in line with the applicable warranty terms and Australian Consumer Law.

Nothing in this policy removes or limits your rights under Australian Consumer Law where those rights cannot legally be excluded.

Our team can help you understand the warranty applicable to your battery, arrange an assessment and explain the available options.

02 Warranty coverage

Warranty coverage may vary depending on whether you purchased a new or reconditioned battery.

New batteries

New batteries may come with a replacement warranty for the period specified for the product.

Reconditioned batteries

Reconditioned batteries have separate warranty terms that reflect the product purchased.

Before purchasing, please ask our team to confirm the warranty period and conditions for your particular battery.

The warranty applicable to your purchase should be confirmed through the product information, invoice, receipt or warranty documentation provided by QLD Batteries.

03 New battery warranty

We supply new automotive batteries for a range of vehicles and applications.

If your new battery develops a fault during its applicable warranty period, contact us so we can assess the problem.

Depending on the circumstances and the applicable warranty, we may need to:

  • Test the battery.
  • Check the battery’s application and installation.
  • Inspect the vehicle’s charging system or other relevant factors.
  • Determine whether the issue is covered by the warranty.
  • Explain the available remedy.

Where a warranty claim is approved, the remedy will depend on the applicable warranty terms and your rights under Australian Consumer Law.

Please contact us before replacing or disposing of a battery you believe is faulty.

04 Reconditioned battery warranty

Reconditioned batteries are an alternative for customers looking for a more affordable battery option.

These batteries are tested and reconditioned before sale. However, their warranty conditions may differ from those applying to new batteries.

If a reconditioned battery develops a problem, contact us with your proof of purchase and details of the issue.

Our team will assess the battery and explain whether the problem falls within the applicable warranty.

Please confirm the warranty period and conditions for your specific reconditioned battery before purchasing.

Your consumer rights under Australian Consumer Law continue to apply where applicable.

05 What a warranty covers

Warranty coverage depends on the product and the terms provided with your purchase.

A warranty claim may be considered when a battery develops a fault covered by the applicable warranty.

To help us assess your claim, please provide:

  • Your proof of purchase.
  • The battery code or product details.
  • The date the battery was purchased.
  • A description of the problem and when it started.
  • Any relevant information about the vehicle or equipment using the battery.

We may need to inspect or test the battery before deciding on the appropriate next step.

A battery that has gone flat does not necessarily have a manufacturing fault. The cause may relate to the vehicle, charging system, electrical accessories, usage or storage conditions.

Our team will assess the available information before advising you.

06 What may not be covered

Depending on the applicable warranty terms and the circumstances, a warranty claim may not cover problems caused by:

  • Incorrect battery selection or application.
  • Incorrect installation or connection.
  • Damage caused by an accident, impact or misuse.
  • Improper charging, storage or maintenance.
  • Vehicle charging system faults or other electrical problems.
  • Normal wear or deterioration associated with use.
  • Modifications or repairs that have damaged the battery.

This list is a general guide, not a blanket exclusion. Each claim will be assessed on its circumstances and the warranty that applies.

Nothing in this section excludes any remedy required under Australian Consumer Law.

07 How to make a warranty claim

If you believe your battery is faulty, contact our team before disposing of it or arranging a replacement elsewhere.

Step 1: Contact us

Call 0477 577 007 or email sales@qldbattery.com.au.

Step 2: Provide your details

Tell us when you purchased the battery, the battery code and what has happened. Please have your receipt or other proof of purchase available.

Step 3: Arrange an assessment

We may ask you to bring the battery or vehicle to our Darra location for testing. Additional arrangements may be needed if the vehicle cannot be driven.

Step 4: Review the results

We’ll assess the available information and explain whether the issue appears to be covered by the applicable warranty.

Step 5: Discuss the outcome

If your claim is covered, we’ll explain the available remedy and the next steps. If the problem appears to have another cause, we’ll explain our findings and any options available to you.

We aim to make the process as straightforward as possible.

08 Battery testing and assessment

Battery testing helps determine whether a battery is healthy, discharged or potentially faulty.

QLD Batteries offers free battery testing at our Darra location. You do not need to purchase a battery to have it tested.

During a warranty assessment, we may also need to check the vehicle’s charging system or other factors that could affect battery performance.

Testing results help us understand the problem, but the result of a single test may not determine every aspect of a warranty claim.

Please contact us if you need help arranging an assessment.

09 Returns and exchanges

If you have a concern about a battery you purchased, please contact us before returning it.

We’ll ask about the purchase and the reason for the return so we can explain the applicable process.

Returns and exchanges may depend on the product, its condition, the circumstances of the return and the applicable consumer laws.

Please note:

  • Contact us before bringing a battery back.
  • Keep your receipt or other proof of purchase.
  • Do not dispose of a battery that may be subject to a warranty claim before speaking with us.
  • Tell us if the battery has been installed, tested or used.
  • Please do not attempt repairs that could cause further damage or create a safety risk.

Change-of-mind returns may be subject to applicable return conditions. Please contact our team to discuss your circumstances.

We assess each issue fairly and in accordance with Australian Consumer Law.

10 Refunds and consumer guarantees

Australian Consumer Law provides consumer guarantees for eligible products and services.

If a product does not meet a consumer guarantee, you may be entitled to a remedy depending on the nature of the problem and the circumstances. This may include a repair, replacement, refund or another remedy where required by law.

The appropriate remedy depends on factors such as the type of fault, whether it is a major failure and the applicable legal requirements.

A manufacturer’s warranty or store warranty does not replace your consumer rights.

If you believe your battery has a fault, contact us so we can assess the issue and explain the next steps.

Nothing in this policy excludes, restricts or modifies any right or remedy that cannot legally be excluded, restricted or modified.

11 Proof of purchase

Proof of purchase helps us identify your transaction and determine which warranty conditions apply.

Please keep your receipt, invoice or other purchase documentation.

If you cannot locate your receipt, contact us with as much information as possible, such as the approximate purchase date, battery details and the name or contact information used for the purchase.

We may be able to help locate the transaction using the information available to us.

A receipt is useful evidence of purchase, but your rights under Australian Consumer Law are not necessarily lost because you cannot provide a particular document.

12 Fitting and installation

We offer free battery fitting at our Darra location when you purchase a battery from us and leave your old battery with us, subject to vehicle suitability and fitting requirements.

Additional charges may apply for delivery, mobile fitting, roadside assistance or work outside our standard fitting conditions.

Correct battery selection and installation are important for safe and reliable operation.

Some vehicles may require specialist procedures, battery registration, electrical system checks or other work after replacement.

If you have concerns following a battery installation, contact our team promptly. Please stop using the vehicle if you believe it is unsafe to operate.

Any warranty assessment will consider the circumstances and the applicable warranty terms, without limiting your statutory rights.

13 Battery recycling and old batteries

We encourage customers to recycle old automotive batteries responsibly.

You can contact us about bringing an old battery to our Darra location for recycling. If we fit a replacement battery, we can also take the old battery under the applicable fitting conditions.

If an old battery is involved in a warranty claim, please speak with us before disposing of it, as we may need to inspect or test it.

Do not place automotive batteries in household rubbish. Handle and transport batteries carefully, and avoid contact with leaking battery contents.

Contact us if you need guidance on bringing an old battery to our warehouse.

14 Changes to this policy

We may update this Warranty & Returns policy when our products, warranty arrangements, business practices or legal requirements change.

The current version will be published on this page with the date it was last updated.

We encourage you to review this page periodically. The warranty terms applicable to an individual purchase should be confirmed through the product documentation and the information provided at the time of purchase.

Changes to this page do not remove any rights that apply to an existing purchase under Australian Consumer Law.
