Where the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) applies to us, we handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles. Applies to the business?

Before publishingAdd the full legal name of the business that operates the website (and its ABN, if you want to show it). Then confirm whether the Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles apply. Most businesses with an annual turnover of $3 million or less are exempt, but some smaller businesses are covered (for example, ones that trade in personal information). Even if the business is exempt, everything this policy says must be accurate.

02 Information we collect

The information we collect depends on how you deal with us. We only ask for what we need to help with your enquiry or provide a service.

Contact and enquiry information

  • Full name
  • Phone number
  • Email address
  • Suburb
  • Anything you write in a message or enquiry form

Vehicle and battery information

  • Vehicle make and model
  • Vehicle year and variant
  • Vehicle registration number, when you give it to us
  • Battery code and battery specifications
  • Photos of your vehicle or battery that you choose to send us

Photos can show more than the battery, such as a number plate, and your phone may store the location where a photo was taken. Only send what we need.

Service information

When you ask for roadside battery assistance, we may need your location, your vehicle details and information about the battery problem so we can respond.

Website and technical information

When you visit our website, the servers that host it may automatically record standard technical information, such as your IP address, browser type, device information and the pages you visit. Hosting records to confirm

We don’t use analytics, advertising or other tracking tools on our website. Live site to confirm

Before publishingConfirm what the website host records (for example, server access logs) and whether any analytics, advertising pixels or similar tools have been added to the live site. This website build contains none. If any are added, update this section and section 7.

Sensitive information

We don’t ask for sensitive information, such as health information, to help with a battery enquiry. Please don’t include it in a message.

03 How we collect information

We may collect personal information when you:

  • Complete the enquiry form on our Contact page or one of our service pages.
  • Send us vehicle details for a fitment enquiry, including after using Find My Battery.
  • Enquire about a particular battery or product.
  • Call or text our team.
  • Request roadside battery assistance.
  • Visit or interact with our website.

Find My Battery works in your browser. The vehicle details you choose aren’t sent to us unless you then contact us. If you choose to text us from your results, your phone’s messaging app opens with those details already typed in, and nothing is sent until you press send.

Some links to our Contact page choose the type of enquiry for you, such as a battery question. You can change it before you send the form.

Please only send us the information we need to handle your enquiry or provide the service.

04 Why we use your information

We use personal information to:

  • Respond to your questions and battery enquiries.
  • Confirm battery fitment, price and availability.
  • Recommend suitable battery options based on the information you give us.
  • Arrange collection, fitting or roadside assistance.
  • Communicate with you about a service request.
  • Manage our business records and customer communications.
  • Keep our website working, secure and performing well.
  • Meet legal requirements and resolve complaints or disputes.

Battery fitment isn’t confirmed automatically. Our website isn’t connected to a complete vehicle fitment database, so our team may need to check the right battery for your vehicle by hand.

05 Who we share information with

We only share personal information where it’s reasonably necessary, with:

  • Our team members who handle customer enquiries and services.
  • The providers that host and maintain our website and process its enquiry forms. Providers to confirm
  • Our email and communication providers. Providers to confirm
  • Other service providers that help us provide a service, such as a payment provider, when they’re actually involved. Providers to confirm
  • Government authorities or other parties, where the law requires or authorises it.

We don’t sell personal information to third parties for their own marketing.

Our website doesn’t take orders or payments online.

Before publishingName the providers actually used before publishing: website hosting and form processing, email, any enquiry or customer-management tool, and the card payment provider used in store. Remove any line that doesn’t apply. This website is built to be hosted on Netlify, with its enquiry forms handled by Netlify Forms. If that’s how it’s deployed, Netlify (a United States company) receives and stores every enquiry form submission.

06 Overseas disclosure and storage

This section will set out where we store personal information and whether we disclose it to recipients outside Australia, including the countries involved where that’s practicable. Section to complete

Before publishingOnce the website, form, email and other providers are confirmed, replace the paragraph above with one of these. A: “We store personal information in Australia and don’t disclose it to recipients outside Australia.” B: “Some of our service providers store or process personal information outside Australia, including in [countries]. We take reasonable steps to make sure they handle it in line with Australian privacy law.” If the site uses Netlify Forms, check where Netlify stores submissions and name that country.

07 Website cookies and analytics

Cookies are small files a website can save in your browser. Our website doesn’t set its own cookies, and it doesn’t use analytics, advertising pixels or session recording tools. Live site to confirm

Our Roadside Battery Replacement page shows a map from Google Maps. When the map loads, Google may receive information such as your IP address and may set its own cookies, under Google’s privacy policy (opens in a new tab).

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time.

Before publishingThis describes the website as built: no cookies or browser storage of its own, and one embedded Google map. If analytics, advertising or other tracking is added to the live site, describe each tool and its purpose here and check whether consent is needed. Don’t add a cookie banner unless a tool that needs one is added.

08 How we store and protect information

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference and loss, and from unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.

No way of sending information over the internet is completely secure. If you’d rather not send something through our website, you can call us instead.

Before publishingOnce confirmed, describe current security practices at a general level (for example, who can see the enquiry inbox and the business phone, and how those devices and accounts are protected). Don’t list technical details or claim specific standards or certifications.

09 How long we keep information

We keep personal information for as long as we reasonably need it for the purpose we collected it, and to meet our legal and business record-keeping requirements.

When we no longer need it and aren’t required or authorised to keep it, we take reasonable steps to securely destroy or de-identify it.

Before publishingConfirm how long enquiry form submissions, emails, text messages and photos are kept and how they’re deleted. Don’t add a fixed period until it’s confirmed.

10 Accessing and correcting your information

You can ask us for access to the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct information that’s inaccurate, incomplete or out of date.

We may need to confirm your identity before we respond. We’ll handle your request in line with the privacy law that applies to us.

11 Marketing communications

We use the contact details you give us to respond to your enquiry and to send you messages about a service you’ve asked for. Marketing practice to confirm

Before publishingConfirm whether QLD Batteries sends any promotional emails or text messages. If it doesn’t, keep the paragraph above as it is. If it does, add how people opt out, using the process the business actually follows.

12 Third-party websites

Our website links to other services, including Google Maps for directions and Google for our customer reviews. Our Roadside Battery Replacement page also shows an embedded Google map.

When you visit an external website, its own privacy policy and practices apply. We encourage you to read them before you give information to those services.

16 Killarney Ave, Darra QLD 4076, Australia

We’ll review your concern and respond within a reasonable time, in line with the requirements that apply to us.

Where Australian privacy law applies and your concern isn’t resolved, you may be able to make a complaint to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC). The OAIC generally asks people to raise the concern with the business first. Visit oaic.gov.au (opens in a new tab).

14 Changes to this policy
